印尼苏门答腊北部8.9级地震,海啸又将上演?

8.9 earthquake in Indonesia (Wednesday, 11th April 2012) — another Tsunami? Indonesia announced a Tsunami warning after an earthquake hit with preliminary magnitude of 8.9 hit waters off westernmost Aceh province. After the last earthquake of the magnitude 9.1 in 2004 killing 260,000 people this is the next major quake. It is said that the tremors was felt in many parts of south India like Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. It is also noted that tremors were felt in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and India as well. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii reported that a tsunami watch was in effect for countries like Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, Australia, Myanmar, Thailand, the Maldives and other Indian Ocean islands, Malaysia, Pakistan, Somalia, Oman, Iran, Bangladesh, Kenya, South Africa and Singapore. The US Geological Survey informed that the powerful quake was epi-centered 20 miles (33 kilometers) beneath the ocean floor around 308 miles (495 kilometers) from Aceh’s provincial capital. It is noted that a Tsunami warning was issued in many of the countries officially or unofficially as people are getting to know the seriousness of such an event, especially after the last major quake in 2004.

印尼最西端的亚齐省4月11日下午发生强烈地震，据当地媒体报道，地震发生在当地时间下午3时39分，地震位于印尼苏门答腊北部西面离岸海域，震中位于北纬2.3度，东经92.9度附近，即距离印尼班达亚齐之西南约440公里处。地震发生后，印尼已经发出海啸警报。当地电视台报道说，当天下午，距离地震源较近的班达亚齐居民震感强烈，但未有建筑物倒塌和人员财产损失报告。人们因害怕纷纷从建筑物里跑出，亚齐医院的病人立即转移到露天的地方。
