Moscow (AFP) - Russia responded angrily onSaturday to news that US senators had passed a bill calling for fresh sanctions against Moscow and the supply of lethal military aid to Ukraine.

莫斯科（法新社）——美国参议院通过了一项法案要求对俄罗斯实施新的制裁并向乌克兰提供军事援助，俄罗斯周六对此做出了愤怒的回应。

"Undoubtedly, we will not be able toleave this without a response," deputy foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov told Interfax news agency ahead of a meeting between the Russian and US foreign ministers.

“毫无疑问，在这种情况下，我们肯定得做出回应，”在美俄外交部长会面之前，俄罗斯副外交部长如是说。

The Senate bill -- dubbed the Ukraine Freedom Support Act -- must still be approved by the White House, which has so far been reluctant to provide direct military assistance to Ukraine for fear of being drawn into a proxy war with Russia.

Ryabkov blamed "anti-Russian moods" in the United States for the bill passed on Friday, which calls foradditional sanctions against Russia and the delivery of up to $350 million (280 million euros') worth of US military hardware to Ukraine.
