英语美文欣赏：论孩子

导语:《论孩子》是由黎巴嫩诗人纪伯伦所写。这首诗的题目虽为《论孩子》，具体内容却是论父母之道的。父母们常忽视了教育最为重要的目标之一——培养独立人格。他们总喜欢干预子女的一切重大人生选择。本诗指出孩子是独立的，是与父母平等的个体，父母只能给孩子以爱，却不能代替他们思想、灵魂的形成。

Your children are not your children.

They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.

They come through you but not from you,

And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.

你的儿女并不是你的儿女

他们是生命自身憧憬的儿女

他们借助你来到这世界，却非自你而来

并且，尽管他们在你身旁，却并不属于你

You may give them your love but not your thought

For they have their own thoughts.

You may house their bodies but not their soul

For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,

Which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

You may strive to be like them,

But seek not to make them like you,

For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday

你可以给予他们的是你的爱，却不是你的思想

因为他们有自己的思想

你可以庇护的是他们的身体，却不是他们的灵魂

因为他们的灵魂栖息于明日

那是你做梦也无法到达的地方

你可以拼尽力气变得和他们一样

却不可以让他们变得和你一样

因为生命不会后退，也不会逗留在昨日

You are the bows from which your children

As living arrows are sent forth.

The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,

And He bends you with His might,

That His arrows may go swift and far.

Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;

For even as He loves the arrow that flies

So He loves also the bow that is stable.

你是弓，儿女是从你那射出的

朝气蓬勃的箭

弓箭手望着无尽的前路上那箭靶

他用尽力气将你拉开

使他的箭可以射得又快又远

怀着愉快的心情在弓箭手的手中弯曲吧

因为他爱这飞翔着的箭

也爱那无比稳定的弓

有些童鞋可能要说，熊=bear，孩子=kid，so就是bear kid咯!

额，答案当然是否定的，没有bear kid这种说法!

熊孩子用中文翻译过来就是“顽皮捣蛋”的孩子之意。

初级译法："naughty kid"。

当然，这只是普通译法。我们来看看老外如何用英语称呼“熊孩子”。

中级译法："wild kids"

例句：Five wild kids are suspected of starting a fire that wrecked theirschool on the eve of the new term。

居中的"wild kids"即“熊孩子”的意思。

另外，wild kid也有昵称的意思，表示对调皮孩子的爱称。

如果，童鞋们觉得这两个词还不够高大上的话，

　　还有以下的高级译法：

1、impish [ mp ] 顽童似的，似顽童的，顽皮的

e.g. Gillespie is well known for his impish sense of humour.

吉莱斯皮以他精灵搞怪的幽默感而广为人知。

2、elfish ['elf ] 如小精灵的，小妖精的，好恶作剧的

e.g. Or , if not, thou strange and elfish child, whence didst thou come?"

要不是这样, 你这个怪里怪气的小妖精似的孩子是从哪儿来的? ”

3、prankish ['pr k ] 爱开玩笑的，恶作剧的; 开玩笑性质的

不过这个词貌似使用的不是太多呢。

当然，如果想炫耀一下广博的词汇量，还可以用

mischievous [ m st v s] 淘气的; 恶作剧的; 有害的
