统计局数据显示 4月份CPI环比有所下降

China's consumer price index (CPI), the main gauge of inflation, rose 1.8% in April year-on-year, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed last Thursday.

国家统计局上周四发布的数据显示，衡量通货膨胀的主要指标--全国居民消费价格指数（CPI），4月同比上涨1.8%。

The growth of consumer inflation in April was slower than expected, down by 0.3 percentage points from the previous month.

4月份CPI的涨幅要低于预期，环比下降0.3个百分点。

The slower growth of inflation was mainly led by the steady decline of Food prices, according to the NBS.

统计局表示，CPI增速放缓的主要原因是食品价格的稳步回落。

Food prices slipped 1.9 percent month-on-month and climbed only 0.7 percent year-on-year.

食品价格环比下降1.9%，同比仅上涨0.7%。

The price of pork, China's staple meat, slumped 16.1 percent yea-on-year, dragging down CPI growth by 0.43 percentage points. It fell 6.6 percent month-on-month.

中国的主要肉类猪肉的价格同比下跌了16.1%，影响CPI增长约0.43个百分点。该指数环比下降了6.6%。

Non-food prices rose 2.1 percent from the same period of last year and 0.2 percent from March.

非食品价格较去年同期上涨2.1%，较3月上涨0.2%。

Lian Ping, chief economist at the Bank of Communications, said that the economy is unlikely to experience high inflation this year given that there has not been a substantial rebound in demand, and the growth of credit supply has slowed.

交通银行首席经济学家连平表示，鉴于总需求没有明显回升，货币供给增速放缓，今年经济不太可能出现高通胀。
