A: How about your stay in Japan? Were you having a good time?

你在日很过得如何？开心吗？

B: Not really. I received a Dear John letter while in Japan.

Dear John letter

1. 解词释义

Dear John letter是指“绝交信”，是美式习语。John Bull是美国人称呼英国人的一种方式。在美国人的眼中，英国人古板，愚蠢，无法打交道，并且两国在历史上还曾经是敌对国。于是，该习语便成了“绝交信”的代名词。
